A Separate Experiment

Unplanned Opportunity

I was working with a group of people today building a dry stone wall and the rods came out for curiosity and entertainment. I have recorded what happened as it all adds to the story of this blog.

We were by a bramble filled woodland through which I believed at least one and possibly more out of use drains ran; which I did not tell anyone about. Unless stated otherwise the 4 mm welding rods were in use.

Mixed Results

Subject 1 (P): walked out to beyond where I suspected a drain would be and experienced no reaction.

Subject  2 (H): walked to the same point and encountered a fairly weak crossing part way. After turning back and retracing his steps a strong reaction appeared at the same point which could then be repeated.

Subject 3 (M): [a member of the group in previous posts when he had experienced rod crossings] walked out and back but experienced no reaction on this occasion.

Subject 4 (J): [who had NOT seen subject 1-3 experiments] walked out and back with no apparent movement; Interestingly he had used dowsing rods elsewhere, apparently successfully. Speaking to (J) later he said he was having so much difficulty walking steadily through the brambles he felt he was too unsteady to decide whether rod movement was due to his erratic movement or a response.

Subject 1 (P): re-walked the same route but now saw movement of the rods coinciding with Subject 2.

Subject 5 (Jk): [later in the day and having seen nothing of the earlier experiments] walked out beyond the earlier tracks passing the previous apparent detection point with no movement but further out experiencing a strong rod movement. After turning back, he repeated the strong movement at the same point and then encountered another crossing which coincided with the earlier subjects' experiences which he was not aware of and at which he had encountered no response on his first pass.

Subject 5 had never previously experimented with dowsing rods and was very skeptical though open; however, he was shocked at the strength of the apparently independent movement which caused the rod to twist out of his albeit deliberately loose grip.
Subject 5 also experimented with light weight copper wires in cane tubes but found them too erratic as any slight departure from a vertical hold resulted in random swinging of individual rods in all directions.

All the observed rod movements went through the process of crossing toward parallel then opening again once past the apparent detection point.  My own pass showed strong full cross at the first location and again at the second location further out identified by subject 5.

Conclusions - More Questions

So, rods did appear on occasion to move independently and the location(s) coincided across some subjects.
However; it was observed that initially poor results were experienced by subjects new to dowsing who later did experience rod crossings. Also, some subjects who have experience of responses on previous occasions experienced nothing today.

Was there something that once some knew where to expect a crossing it happened suggesting unconscious interference.
Or; may it be necessary to experience the process one or more times before you become attuned to it?

Could variation be due to external influences; ground, type of rod, material of the target?
